| Kanchenjunga is the third-tallest mountain in the world after Mt. Everest and Mt. K2. Kanchenjunga is situated in eastern part of Nepal at 8598m. It was first climbed by a British team in 1956. It is an enormous mountain mass, and many satellite peaks rise from its narrow icy ridges. It is located on the border of Nepal and Sikkim, just 46 miles northwest of Darjeeling. It is the most easterly of the great 8,000 meter peaks of the Himalaya. The peak consists of four summits. The west summit, Yalung Kang, is 8420m high and some people classify it as a separate 8000m peak.
Three first Westerner to explore Kanchenjunga was the British botanist JD Hooker, who visited the area twice in 1848 and 1849. Exploration of the Skim, side of the peak continued with both British and pundit explorers mapping and photographing until 1899. In that year a party led by Douglas fresh field made a circuit of Kanchenjunga and produced what is still one of the most authoritative maps of the region.
The Japanese now took up the challenge and mounted expeditions in 1976, 1973 and 1974 during which they climbed Yalung Kang. A German Expedition climbed Yalung Kang in 1975, and in 1977 an Indian army team mounted the second successful expedition to the main peak of Kanchenjunga.
The route (North Face) is definitely the safest, although not the easiest. Climb of Kanchenjunga begin from a charming base camp in the meadows of Panorama at 5,180 m. First challenge is to fix lines up 900 m of intricate mixed climbing to the North col. This provides the most challenging climbing of the expedition. Once creating a lifeline to and from the North Col you can begin the long process of establishing three camps up the long and complicated North ridge. Using Sherpa support and oxygen, you can move at a systematically slow velocity higher and higher up the mountain. This is a highly satisfying climb for the expert Climbers.

Royalty Fees ::
Royalty Fee above 8000m Peak
Climbing permit to scale the Nepal Himalayas is issued in all seasons by the Mountaineering Section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Certain official documents are required to seek permission for climbing peaks. Around 121 peaks do not require liaison officer for expedition. Fees or royalties depend upon the altitude of the peak starting at US $ 1,000 for peaks below 6,501 meters and rising by US $ 500 for every 500 meters.
For the Mount Kanchanjunga ::
1. The royalty for the mountaineering expedition team not exceeding seven in number from the route other than the general route (Southeast route) shall be fifty thousand U.S. dollar.
2. The royalty for the mountaineering expedition from general route (Southeast route) for the mountaineering expedition team shall be as follows,-

Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport and transfer to hotel. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Preparation day in Kathmandu. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar by airplane and by plane to Taplejung and suketar (2300m). This morning you fly to Biratnagar in the eastern Terai. It is Nepal's second largest city and an energetic, bustling place. You take the short 30 to 40 minute flight to Sukhetar/Taplejung, where the trek crew will be waiting for your arrival. After landing, you take a little time for refreshments and for the porters to prepare their loads before beginning your walk along the ridge line above Taplejung village.
Day 04: Trek from Taplejung to Mitlung.
Day 05: Trek from Mitlung to Chirwa.
Day 06: Trek from Chirwa to Sekhatum.
Day 07: Trek from Sekhatum to Amjilesa.
Day 08: Trek from Amjilesa to Gyabla.
Day 09: Trek from Gyabla to Ghunsa.
Day 10: Trek from Ghunsa to Khambachen.
Day 11: Trek from Khambachen to Lhonak.
Day 12: Trek from Lhonak to Pang Pema.
Day 13: Trek from Pang Pema to Kanchenjunga Base Camp.
Day 14: Rest day at Base Camp for acclimatization.
Day 15-34: Climbing period of Kanchenjunga.
Day 35: Trek from Base Camp to Pang Pema.
Day 36: Trek from Pang Pema to Lhonak.
Day 37: Trek from Lhonak to Ghunsa.
Day 38: Trek from Ghunsa to Selely.
Day 39: Trek from Selely to Mirgin La to Tseram.
Day 40: Trek from Mirgin La -Tseram to Oktang-Torotan.
Day 41: Trek from Oktang -Torotan to Omje Khola.
Day 42: Trek from Omje Khola to Mamanke.
Day 43: Trek from Mamanke to Bhanjyang.
Day 44: Trek from Bhanjyang to Lali Kharka.
Day 45: Trek from Lali Kharka to Suketar.
Day 46: Fly from Suketar to Kathmandu.
Day 47: Rest day in Kathmandu.
Day 48: Departure from Kathmandu.
